PET GROOMING FAQ'S

1. Do you groom my pet inside my home?
No. All grooming is done inside our state-of-the-art mobile salon at your home or office. We have everything we need. Electricity, heated water, air-conditioned for summer, cozy and warm in winter. Soothing music and aroma therapy helps calm even the most nervous pets. All we require is your pet to pamper.

2. I’ve heard Mobile Groomers use “Re-cycled Water”. Do you?
Never! We carry 70 gallons of fresh water with us each day. As your pet is bathed the water goes down the drain into our ‘grey water tank’ and is disposed of at the end of each day.

3. Will my pet be put into a cage to be dried?
Your pet will never be placed in a cage. They will receive hands-on, one-on-one personalized attention. They will not be a number, placed in a cage waiting their turn in an ‘assembly line’ mass production setting.

4. Why does it only take an 1-2 hours to groom my pet? When he goes to the Grooming Shop he has to stay all day, or I’m charged extra for ‘Speedy Service’.

We focus all of our attention on your pet alone, from start to finish. In many cases at Groom Shops, pets are handled by many different individuals during the day. “Preppers” prep the pets,“ bathers” bathe pets, then they are either placed in cages for partial or full drying, “brushers” brush pets, “finishers” finish the groom and return them to cages again. Many steps, in and out of cages all day. To handle the volume of pets that an average grooming shop accommodates in a day (20-40 pets) personalized one-on-one attention is not cost effective or possible. Phones ringing, many pets in unfamiliar, stressed emotional stages, lots of barking, growling and stress panting. A ‘day at the spa’ can be emotionally and physically exhausting for most pets, particularly young puppies and older pets.

5. Why is Mobile Grooming more expensive than when I take my pet to a Grooming Shop?
As with most services that provide “At Home Service” (plumbers, electricians, appliance repair, etc.) a ‘Service Fee’ is part of the final pricing. Often times consultation, diagnosis, parts and labor are priced separate, often on an hourly basis. Even if you purchase a product from a business there is usually a delivery and/or set-up fee involved to have it delivered to your home. I recently purchased a sofa and was charged a ‘dock fee’ for picking it up myself! Typically our grooming prices range from $10 to $20 more than “average” grooming shop prices (which includes labor and delivery of the salon to your doorstep). This fee helps to offset our cost for gasoline, maintenance of our vehicle and equipment, insurance; as well as giving you the value of at home service. It saves your gas (2 or more trips to the grooming shop and back home), saves your time (you can do things around home as we groom your pet in your driveway), peace of mind (we are in full view throughout the entire grooming process), your pet’s well-being (no exposure to other pets, parasites, diseases), stress or separation anxiety, cages, unfamiliar surroundings.** For you ladies out there; the next time you visit your hair stylist inquire how much they would charge to provide you with their service at your home. (Remember, that would be for just a hair cut & style). Include a manicure and pedicure, full-body bath in a premium all-natural, botanical cleanser, full body message, clean your ears, clean your eyes from little ‘gunkies’, clean your private parts (including dried, caked on old poop from your hiney), a facial, etc. Oh, and tell them to bring along some soothing music and aroma therapy scents to help you to relax! Mobile Pet Grooming is a Great Value!

6. Should I brush my pet at home?
Short, medium, or long haired pets all benefit. Brushing helps to stimulate and distribute the natural oils produced throughout the coat, as well as remove dirt, debris, tangles, and dead undercoat. Pets love the special attention. We can offer suggestions on the correct techniques and equipment you need for your pets’ coat type.

7. I usually just bathe my pet at home myself, what’s wrong with that?
Nothing! Just make sure you use a quality shampoo formulated for pets (their PH is different than that of humans.) And please....PLEASE....don’t hose them down with ice cold water in the backyard (imagine how it would feel to YOU or your CHILD!) Always make sure all tangles and knots are removed from your pets’ coat BEFORE the bath! If you bathe your pet while matted and tangled most often the shampoo will be unable to penetrate the mats and/or it will be impossible to thoroughly rinse the pets coat of any shampoo residue resulting in your pet’s skin becoming irritated and they will itch and scratch afterwards. After bathing it is crucial to dry them thoroughly; to the skin; everywhere. If the hair coat is left damp it can contribute to the onset of a skin fungus ( all the right ingredients: warmth, dampness, darkness, throw in a few little microbes for good measure. . . .ewe!) We use only all natural, botanical, PH balanced premium pet shampoos (we even heat the shampoo for comfort), vitamin conditioners, blueberry facial scrubs to reduce eye/facial staining, total, thorough deep coat brushing and combing. Followed by complete drying by hand, over every inch, every crack and cranny, to ensure there are no mats or tangles left in those arm pit areas, between the toes, behind the ears. . . .more involved than most people ever imagined.

8. I’ve heard Dog Groomers use tranquilizers. Do you?
Never! And we don’t give any to the pets either!!
